in Birmingham NEC on 12-14 October

‘Openning doors to low energy refurbishment’ - Superhomes lists well over a hundred houses which have occasional open days.


The Ecobuild exhibition at ExCeL has become a major venue to see some of the best in green building products and services (and also one or two dinosaur companies pretending they have something green to offer). Also there are many good free seminars on a wide range of green build subjects. It is interesting to note however that there is increasing concern from the likes of the Green Building Forum about the real ‘green-ness’ of such events.

The Self Build and design show at Exeter

Green Build Expo in Manchester. Not particularly ‘self build’ but some interesting seminars and products for the self builder.

BuildStore’s National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon has a permanent exhibition and runs various self build courses.

 

The Homebuilding and Renovating Show – Regular regional exhibitions for self-build, renovation, conversion and home improvement.

All Energy – the renewable energy show in Aberdeen.

Grand Designs Live in London

Fintry Renewable Energy Show (FRESh ’09) was a two day show of how the village of Fintry, near Stirling has invested in a wind generator at a nearby wind farm and is using the income to make the village more sustainable. The show is likely to be repeated in 2010.

Timber Expo  really a trade exhibition for the timber industry but useful if you are thinking of a timber build

Scotland’s Housing Expo showcases over 50 house designs of the future – all with a strong ecological emphasis.

The Ecos Trust, based in Langport, Somerset, regularly run exhibitions and green build events

Eco Open Houses. This open house event is specific to Brighton and Hove

The Northern Home Show in Manchester has a self build section

 

 

 

Solid Wood Solutions on 26th February 2013 at The National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham. Featuring laminated timber, solid timber structures etc.
